Quick Fix: Copying large files to USB disk hangs the system (Ubuntu)

Add the following lines to /etc/sysctl.conf :

vm.dirty_background_ratio = 5
vm.dirty_ratio = 10

Now make the changes active by running „sysctl -p“ as root – done.
